New Jersey Mesotherapy Treatment- NJ Mesotherapy Benefits from Elizabeth Rouch New Jersey Med Spa

What is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is an aesthetic medical specialty, which involves injecting microscopic quantities of pharmaceutical agents, natural plant extracts, homeopathic agents, and vitamins into the skin. The Physician selects a custom formula to treat your condition. Mesotherapy can be effectively used to treat cellulite, body sculpting, weight loss, and rejuvenation of the skin. Meso pain management is evaluated on an individual basis.

How Does Mesotherapy Work On Cellulite/Fat?

Cellulite treatment includes treating several factors. The physician will create a personalized custom formula specific to your graded stage of cellulite. Components of the solutions utilized with the MesoJect System™ dissolve the fat (induce lipolysis) in the cellulite, invigorate the impaired circulation with venous and lymphatic flow, and induce cellulysis of the damaged connective tissue. The aesthetic appearance is smoothing and contouring of the skin surface. Mesotherapy is the most effective Cellulite treatment available today and may be performed on any affected part of the body. Meso-Cellulite™ treatment is a permanent solution.

How Does Mesotherapy Work On Skin Rejuvenation & Wrinkle Prevention?

Mesotherapy may target specific areas or spots where your body stores excessive fat. The MesoJect System™ customized formulas medically directed in a specific area blocks the cells from storing new fat and helps break down the existing stored fat cells and metabolize the fat (lipolysis). Your body then naturally flushes out the metabolized fat via invigorated venous and lymphatic circulation. Meso-Sculpt™ spot reduction can be used for double chins, love handles, saddlebags, inner thighs, inner knees, and any other area where your body pockets fat.

What are the benefits of Mesotherapy?

For overall weight loss: Mesotherapy results are measured in inches. Because fat is melted under the skin, about one pound of fat per week is lost. - Equal to four sticks of butter! The Mesotherapy treatment is applied to arms, waist, hips, back, and legs all in one session. A typical patient can lose up to two dress sizes with ten treatments. Patients have lost up to four inches on their waist, hips, and thighs.

For cellulite: Mesotherapy is a permanent solution that eliminates dimpling and misshapen fat under the skin. The fat cells inflate, causing a rippling and puckering of the skin, commonly referred to as orange peel skin. Lymphatic and venous circulation is poor in these areas. Mesotherapy is used to cause an increase in venous and lymphatic flow, as well as the elimination of fat and dimpling in the area. In four weeks, a patient's skin appears significantly smoother. Most patients lose anywhere from two to four inches where their cellulite is treated.

For spot weight reduction: Mesotherapy is a painless alternative to liposuction. Fat and cellulite are eliminated from targeted sites using the same techniques as above. Unlike liposuction, only the fat (not the fat cells) is removed. After ten sessions, patients can lose two to six inches in their saddle bags, hips, thighs, waist, love handles, back fat and chin when medicine is placed in those areas. Mesotherapy is not used to reduce fatty tumors or breast tissue in women.

Who is a Good Candidate for Mesotherapy treatment?

Most healthy adults between 18 to 80 may generally have mesotherapy for body sculpting and weight loss, cellulite treatment, and mesolift skin rejuvenation. Thoughtful consideration is given to every patient request for mesotherapy treatment.

Most healthy adults between the ages of 18 - 75 are candidates for Mesotherapy for weight loss, spot weight reduction, and cellulite reduction.

[top]

Who is NOT Good Candidate for Mesotherapy treatment?

Patients who are pregnant, on blood thinners, are Hemopheliacs or with a history of bleeding disorder, are insulin-dependent diabetics, on medication for heart arrhythmia's, have severe heart disease or have cancer are not candidates for cosmetic Mesotherapy.

[top]

How should I prepare for my Mesotherapy treatment?

Before Mesotherapy treatments, avoid intake of Aspirin or anti-inflammatories for 3 days.

[top]

How many Mesotherapy treatments will be needed?

The number of Mesotherapy treatments needed will vary based on your personal treatment goals, medical recommendations, and areas of the body and extent of the cellulite/fat/skin/weight to be treated. The number of visits ranges from approximately five to fifteen. Long term weight loss from exogenous obesity may require weekly treatment for several months, personalized to the client's specific goals, supported by daily exercise, diet management, and personalized vitamin supplements.

[top]

Who should administer Mesotherapy treatments?

Mesotherapy should be performed by an MD or DO who has Approved Continuing Medical Education Credits (CME's). A nurse or physician assistant should not administer Mesotherapy without the MD or DO being present.

[top]

What results should I expect from Mesotherapy treatments?

Results vary, according to your body type, treatment goals, and the severity of the problem. Often, clients report seeing results within two or three sessions. For certain conditions, you may appreciate immediate results. Clients with regular exercise programs seem to achieve optimal results sooner.

What is considered as a treatment "area"?

Whether you are seeking mesotherapy for localized fat or cellulite, only one treatment area is recommended at any given time (example: both hips, or both inner thighs, or abdomen). This is because the injections cause inflammation, redness, and burning about an hour after the injection has been performed. These symptoms last 1-3 days.

Both sides of the body are considered together to form one area. For example:

  • Outside of the thigh, both legs
  • Inside of the thigh, both legs
  • Abdomen below the navel, both sides
  • Abdomen above the navel, both sides
  • Love handles, both sides
  • Back (bra bulge), both sides
  • Backs of the upper arms, both sides
  • Jowls, both sides of face
  • Under chin, both sides
  • Eye fat pads, both eyes

Mesotherapy results are measured in inches.

Results will last. Mesotherapy provides a permanent solution to cellulite. Mesotherapy targeted body sculpting and spot fat reduction, including weight loss are effective treatments. However, keep in mind that maintaining your weight loss and optimal sculpting result requires consistent exercise (with cardio and light resistance training) and consistent food management discipline (emphasis on lean protein and low glycemic carbohydrates). You may elect to have touch up treatments from time-to-time. Although aging is a dynamic process, you can benefit from mesotherapy as an important anti-aging and preventive medicine strategy.

What Can Be Expected During Mesotherapy?

Before your treatment, your skin is cleaned and prepped. Your treatment expectations are discussed and your body is mapped accordingly. Some cellulite is not visible when you are lying down, making it important to map your body when you are standing and your problem areas are more pronounced. During the mesotherapy treatment, you will receive many micro-injections using very tiny needles.

[top]

What Happens After a Mesotherapy treatment?

After mesotherapy treatment you can expect to be sore. Bring loose fitting clothes to change into after treatment. Soreness is typical and will resolve itself after 24- 48 hours. You should refrain from exercise or any strenuous activity that would cause the medicine to be excreted through the pores in your skin. After that time period, it is advisable to take hot baths and resume your daily routine. Diet and exercise are encouraged to aid in the weight loss.

[top]

What Are the Possible Complications of Mesotherapy treatment?

Localized adverse events have included edema, erythema, ecchymosis, irregular contours, and tender subcutaneous nodules. Urticarial and lichenoid reactions to the injected medications as well as mycobacterial infections have been reported. Systemic side effects of phosphatidylcholine include mild transient elevations in LFT's and rare cases of nausea and vomiting after injections of high volumes.

[top]

What aftercare is recommended for Mesotherapy treatments?

Post-treatment symptoms can be reduced by taking benadryl every 6 hours for a few days after your injection. Steroids are sometimes prescribed for a few days after treatment.

After a few days, redness and burning will probably be gone, but there may be swelling and extra sensitive in the injection area for several weeks. You should not have additional injections in the same area until your swelling and sensitivity have returned to normal.

[top]

How long do Mesotherapy treatments take?

Mesotherapy treatments take approximately 15-30 minutes. If topical anesthetic is used, an additional hour is necessary prior to the treatment. The patient may leave immediately after the treatment is over in most instances.

[top]

Is Mesotherapy safe?

Mesotherapy is a safe and effective alternative for the treatment of cellulite, weight loss, hair loss (alopecia), and face and neck rejuvenation. Unlike surgery, mesotherapy is virtually painless, requires no post-operative recovery time, requires no heavy bandages or girdles, and no anesthesia is necessary.

[top]

Are Mesotherapy treatments painful?

Minimal discomfort can be expected during Mesotherapy treatments. Extremely small needles are used, penetrating the skin (four to six millimeters) to a very small depth. Many of the needle sticks are not even felt because oftentimes the skin is pinched by the clinician prior to and during the injections. For those with lower pain thresholds, a topical anesthetic cream is applied an hour before treatment. Rarely, patients opt to take an analgesic prior to being treated.

[top]

How soon are the results of Mesotherapy treatments noticeable?

Smaller areas may be effectively treated in one or two treatments, while the effect of Mesotherapy in large areas is typically noticed after 4-8 treatments. Usually there is one treatment every 2-3 weeks until the desired benefit is achieved. Mesotherapy can also improve the appearance of cellulite by increasing blood flow to the area and removing hardened connective tissue septae.

[top]

Are there risks or side effects from Mesotherapy treatment?

Some people experience side effects to a lesser degree than others. Most people can expect redness, swelling, itching, bruising, and general discomfort. A rare side effect of Mesotherapy is the formation of nodules. A small, pea-like hardening may appear under the skin. Usually only noticeable by touch, these formations are not serious and will dissolve by themselves, disappearing after a few weeks, or at most, months.

[top]

Why choose Mesotherapy over surgical techniques such as Liposuction?

Liposuction does not treat cellulite. In fact, liposuction often causes existing cellulite to appear more prominent. Mesotherapy treats cellulite directly, promoting smoother skin and reducing fat in selected areas. Fat deposits are flushed from the body, and do not reappear in other areas, which often occurs after liposuction. Mesotherapy does not require hospitalization, general anesthesia or downtime.
