What Is BBL® HEROTM?

BBL® HEROTM (Broad Band Light-High Energy Rapid Output) is a safe and highly effective treatment that can be used to address a wide variety of skin concerns. Unlike ablative lasers that use only one wavelength of light to treat a desired area, BBL® HEROTM applies multiple wavelengths to reach imperfections in each layer of skin.

BBL® HEROTM? How It Works

Some of the HERO’s light wavelengths are intended to stimulate the formation of new collagen and improve the look of fine lines. Other wavelengths are designed to break up areas of discoloration and promote healthy cell turnover. As the body sheds treated cells and replaces them with new ones, the area begins to look smoother and more even in tone.

What to Expect

Before your BBL® HEROTM session begins, a numbing cream will be applied to your skin to make the treatment area feel more comfortable. A conduction gel is then applied. Then the handpiece, which has a chilled contact crystal, will be passed over your body to deliver quick pulses of light to the target areas.

The procedure is comfortable and non-invasive. You may notice a gentle warming or tingling sensation during your session and areas of pigmentation may appear temporarily darker. This is a sign that the treatment is beginning to work.

The treatment time is about 30 minutes. After the treatment your face will be cleansed of the gel and a sunscreen is applied.

What are the most common side effects?

BBL® HEROTM is a well-tolerated treatment that has very few side effects. Most patients notice some minor redness right after their procedure, but this quickly dissipates within a couple of hours. Darkening of pigmented areas may also occur, which can take a week or two to resolve as your skin repairs itself after the treatment.

What is recovery like?

Most patients are able to return to work, school, and other normal activities right after treatment. This makes BBL® HEROTM an excellent “lunchtime” procedure for people who want to get in and out without taking time off of work.

Occasionally, patients may experience some mild sensitivity in the day or two after the procedure that feels like a minor sunburn. We recommend using sunscreen and high-quality skincare products which we will recommend to you to obtain the best results.

When will I see results?

For most people, results typically begin to appear two weeks after the initial session. Improvement usually continues for several weeks following.

Will I need multiple treatments?

How many BBL® HEROTM treatments you’ll need depends on what kind of skin conditions you wish to treat. Minor to moderate issues may only need a few sessions, while deep wrinkles and dark sun spots may take several.
