A Natural-Looking Hyaluronic Acid-Based Cheek Filler
The natural aging process causes cheeks to lose volume over time, leaving you with less definition and facial balance. Restylane® Contour is a flexible gel cheek filler that is specifically designed for use in the cheeks to restore natural-looking definition in the midface.
How Restylane® Contour Works
Restylane® Contour is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is formulated with XpresHAn Technology™. This is a proprietary manufacturing process that modifies how hyaluronic acid molecules are crosslinked within the filler gel so the product remains flexible and dynamic after it is injected.
Instead of a very firm, rigid gel, XpresHAn Technology™ produces a softer filler that can stretch and move with natural facial expressions. This makes it particularly useful in areas of the face that are constantly moving, such as the cheeks and around the mouth.
Additionally, Restylane® Contour is formulated with lidocaine to help reduce discomfort during the injection process.
Common Treatment Areas for Restylane® Contour
- Cheeks to restore lost volume and improve definition
- Midface to create a more balanced, youthful contour
- Cheekbones to enhance natural facial structure
- Nasolabial folds to smooth the midface
- Anywhere in the face to contour and improve balance
Why Patients Choose Restylane® Contour
Patients at our New Jersey medspa choose Restylane® Contour to restore volume without an “overfilled” or “frozen” look. Since this particular filler is more flexible than others that provide more structural lift, it’s ideal for patients who need midcheek volume replacement with subtle, natural-looking results that enhance the face and create a refreshed appearance.
What to Expect
Your treatment with Restylane® Contour will begin with a consultation to evaluate your facial structure and discuss your aesthetic goals. This allows Dr. Roche and her team to determine the best treatment areas and how much filler is needed to achieve your desired results.
Topical numbing cream will be applied for 15 minutes followed by a thorough cleansing of your skin. The actual treatment of injecting usually takes between 10 and 15 minutes and involves a series of injections that are carefully placed in the target areas. In addition to the topical numbing cream, Restylane® Contour is made with lidocaine, making the injections more comfortable and less painful.
Your results are immediate and you will leave with a renewed and refreshed appearance.
After treatment, patients can generally return to their normal activities. However, you will need to avoid engaging in strenuous activity for the rest of the day. No make-up should be applied over the injection sites for 24 hours to avoid the chance of an infection.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is Restylane® Contour different from other Restylane fillers?
Compared to other fillers in the Restylane® family, Restylane® Contour is formulated to be more flexible and is specifically designed for use in the cheeks and midface area. While it offers excellent softness and adaptability, it provides slightly less structural support than firmer fillers that are made for deeper lifting or contouring.
Who can get Restylane® Contour?
Most healthy adult patients can receive Restylane® Contour. However, some patients may not be good candidates for any dermal filler injection treatment. This includes patients:
- Who recently had or planning on having dental work of any kind
- Who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Who have allergies to dermal fillers or gram-positive bacteria
- Who have been hospitalized for allergic reactions to medications
- Who have bleeding disorders or have recently taken blood-thinning drugs
Does Restylane® Contour have any side effects?
Restylane® Contour is generally well-tolerated and has mild side effects that can occur with any type of dermal filler and that generally resolve on their own a few hours or days after your appointment. However, some patients may notice:
- Tenderness
- Slight bleeding or bruising
- Firmness or lumps under the skin
- Itching, redness, or swelling
As with any dermal filler injection, rare complications may occur such as allergic reaction, infection, and vascular occlusion.
