What is Laser Thermolysis?
Laser thermolysis, or laser skin tightening, is a state-of-the-art technique that uses targeted pulses of infrared heat to gently warm up the deeper layers of skin where collagen fibers are formed. The approach has two primary effects — first, it causes the collagen fibers to contract so skin looks and feels firmer and more resilient right after treatment. Second, the deep heat stimulates the body’s natural healing processes, ramping up collagen production over time so skin continues to regain elasticity and resiliency long after the initial treatment.
What Happens During a SkinTyte® Treatment?
Treatment begins with a thorough evaluation of your skin as well as a review of your objectives to ensure your treatment is customized for you. Next, the skin will be gently cleansed to remove makeup, oil and other impurities, and the SkinTyte® hand piece will be gently moved across the face, emitting a series of rapid bursts of infrared energy at precise depths to target the collagen-forming layers of skin. You will feel a gradual build-up of warmth to heat sensation. We target the heat build up to be 40`C on the surface of your skin, which we measure by a hand held infra-red temperature gauge. This is the optimum temperature for collagen remolding to begin.
The device features a cooling mechanism to keep the surface layers of skin protected and the patient comfortable throughout the treatment, so there’s no need for anesthetic. Treatments take less than an hour, and many areas can be treated in a half hour or less.
Once treatment is complete, you might see some minor redness for a brief period, similar to a very mild sunburn or “flushing.” You’ll be able to apply makeup and go back to your regular activities right away.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
How many treatments you will need depends on your treatment goals and the condition of your skin. Most patients get the greatest benefits from a series of treatments designed to rebuild collagen over time. Remember that while SkinTyte® laser skin tightening treatment offers some immediate visible improvement in skin appearance for most patients, it takes some time for the collagen fibers to grow and form strong networks in the skin’s deeper layers. That means you won’t see the final results of your treatment for two to four months.
