Kybella® Double Chin Reduction in Bergen County, NJ
Submental fat, colloquially known as a “double chin,” has been difficult to treat in the past. Neck exercises, weight loss, and diet are often ineffective at targeting this ultra-specific area of the body, leaving many people looking for help sculpting their jawline.
New treatments for treating the submental area are currently being discovered, helping many people to achieve the look of a slimmer chin. Kybella® is the first and currently the only FDA-approved injection designed specially to break down fat cells and treat submental fullness.
What Is Kybella®?
Kybella® is an injectable prescription medication (deoxycholic acid) used to treat the appearance of fat below the chin, often known as “double chin,” in adults. Kybella® is injected under the chin in a series of subcutaneous treatment sessions that dissolves fat cells over time.
Typically, the process is repeated 1 to 3 months later. After 12 weeks or 2 sessions, whichever comes first, patients report noticeable results. Many patients will have a series of 3 to 4 sessions but it will depend on how much initial fat is needed to be treated. Maximum results are visible 6 months following the last treatment and are expected to last years.
Currently, Kybella® injections are not FDA approved for treating pockets of fat other than the submental region, however Dr. Roche, as do many advanced injectors, uses this medication “off label” to treat other parts of the face and body.
How Kybella® Submental Fat Injections Work
Kybella® aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat stored in the submental region of the face, underneath the chin and jawline. Once treated, cells in this area can no longer store or accumulate fat.
In clinical trials, 79% of treated patients reported satisfaction with the appearance of their chin and face, and reported feeling happier, younger, less self-conscious, and less overweight based on their chin profile.
