How to Slim Down After COVID-19 Lockdowns

How to Slim Down After COVID-19 Lockdowns

If you’re like most people, you’ve filled out a little bit since the start of COVID-19 lockdowns. After all, there’s little more to do than scroll social media and stress eat when nothing is open and it’s not safe to leave your home.

As restrictions begin to ease and people resume normal daily activities (with a mask!), you may be considering what you can do to look slimmer and more refreshed. Here are my top recommendations to shape up after being stuck inside.

Cut the Salt

If you’ve been eating foods that have a lot of salt in them, now is the time to cut them from your diet. Salt, or sodium, can cause you to swell and hold water weight, making your skin and body look puffy or bloated.

Eliminate processed foods like chips and boxed dinners and opt for fresh versus canned or frozen foods. Don’t be fooled — even foods marketed as “healthy” can still be packed with sodium. Use additional salt on your food sparingly or not at all.

Hydrate Your Skin and Body

Good hydration both internally and externally is important for slimming down and glowing up after COVID-19 lockdowns. However, the “8 glasses per day” rule is outdated; hydration is not one-size-fits-all. It is suggested that men consume 131 ounces of water per day, while women should consume 95 ounces. This includes moisture contained in foods.

External hydration is also important for fresher looking skin. A quality skincare regimen with hyaluronic acid-based products can help restore moisture to your face and décolletage quickly when used as directed.

Adopt an Exercise Program That’s Right for You

Naturally, slimming down requires some form of exercise to burn fat and tone your body. Adopt an exercise program that fits your needs, whether it be heavy cardio or strengthening yoga. Prior to beginning any exercise regimen, you should consult your physician to ensure that your chosen program is safe for you and your individual health.

Ask About Kybella, SculpSure, and Other Slimming Cosmetic Procedures

Exercise isn’t the only way to slim down, and it’s ineffective for some spots like the double-chin area. At my office, I offer a wide variety of minimally invasive treatments designed to help you sculpt and shape your face and body.

Kybella

Kybella is the only non-surgical, FDA-approved treatment to reduce submental fat under the chin. Kybella injections destroy fat cells, rendering them unable to continue to store or accumulate fat. Most patients begin to see results in as little as one month after receiving a number of strategically placed injections during their session.

SculpSure

SculpSure is a non-invasive, innovative treatment that primarily targets unwanted fat in the abdominal and hip areas. The technology works by utilizing a sapphire diode laser to pass energy through the skin to melt unwanted fat cells. The sapphire glass protects your skin and keeps it cool during the SculpSure procedure.
